Thanks for your thoughts.

It would be a wonderful resource, although maintaining the information as current would be a mammoth task. It may be easier for individual sites and blogs to maintain their own entry on such a database, with moderators or fact checkers backing up and correcting errors.

I wonder if any of the naturist libraries that routinely collect naturist publications also monitor online resources. Perhaps this is trying to reinvent something that may already exist, albeit unprompted.

I'm not sure it would be such a huge task. The main concern would be with the most popular platforms and sites. Those have millions or many thousands of users. Main concerns would be with Facebook, Twitter/X, large naturist organizations, popular naturist social media sites, and perhaps a few others. Once a reasonable amount of information is collected on those, it's just necessary to wait for significant changes. Since the sites have so many users, major changes will surely be called to the curator's attention. As for smaller sites, well, they'll have many fewer users, so information that's out of date affects a lot fewer people. And even someone using the site for the first time can report obvious problems.

Twitter/X and similar platforms are a slightly different matter. If a popular poster quits, starts posting junk, or is suspended, many people will notice and can report the change.

Think about traditional travel guides. If something big changes in Paris or London, lots of people will notice and report the change. But if something changes in Wellington, NZ, many fewer people are affected.

Same situation with brand new places. Whoever creates a new place will very likely let the curator know. Even if not, if enough people like the new thing, the curator can be informed to add it.

Charles. Have you seen this?

Yes, I've seen it. It's in a large list of sites I keep for personal use. Some of the material is very good, but there doesn't seem to be much new stuff. Interestingly, it invites sharing on other social media - one of which is Google+, which shut down almost 5 years ago. The site could be a good place to start if one is looking for a naturist place to visit. But there's not much information about most places, and I know some are no longer naturist.

Naturism has an SEO problem that can only be resolved by stepping outside of ourselves.

Someone is only going to search for the term "naturist" if they know what it is. This means that your prospects are already being limited to a very narrow scope. Naturists need to define the behaviors and searches that occur before someone discovers the word naturism and then retrofit their websites to attract people in the pre-naturist stage.

The more naturists stay within their own confines, the smaller the pool to draw from becomes. Covid was a gift in some ways for some geographies that buoyed the numbers. But there may not be another phenomenon like it for a while.

SEO problem? Yes, that's true. What ideas do you have for dealing with that? I could discuss the topic on my existing social media accounts - but I'm no celebrity, so that wouldn't reach very many people.

What should I do so that many people besides those who know me would see what I have to say about naturism? I'd really like to find a good answer. Should I just mention Taylor Swift in everything I write, whether or not Taylor is relevant?

Ha! Well, Google would likely punish websites if you keyword stuffed with Taylor Swift. But I admire the willingness.

You would be someone who's an analyst ideally, but my intuition says that content that features related, adjacent areas would be a good start. For example, a page on #freethenipple and equal rights. A page on the joined history of the queer community and nudity. A page that explores nudity and multiculturalism. A page about nudity and religion, such as Wiccan or others.

You can see how there's a gap in this content on most naturist websites but also that the associated allies could help broaden the presence. There might be opportunities for quotes, questions/ answers (which search was already preferring and now with AI will be consumed more readily). A well-written piece on controversial items could also drive traffic, such as privacy, legislation and even things like sexuality.

Excuse typos, it's late where I am, but I hope this helps.

I suppose one possibility is to write posts about well-known celebrities who acknowledge being naturists. I don't really care at all about celebrities, but I could try it. I'm not sure that would help much if a particular celebrity is already known to be a naturist. But what the heck...
