Charles, you would be better making the top option ‘4 or more’ and adding the zero option. I agree that it is likely to show that the vast majority of us have not introduced anyone new to naturism - but surely that is the real issue of this survey: that we are not doing enough to widen the practice’s attractiveness to textiles? I have not introduced naturism to anyone this year so cannot take part in the analysis. So all you will get are responses from the few who have and I’m really not sure what that will tell you.
I don't mean to have an argument about this, but must ask what's the point of a poll that tells us what we already know - i.e. the "vast majority" hasn't persuaded others to try naturism. There are more important things to learn about, such as (1) How were those who got 5 or more people to try naturism able to do it? (2) How many people tried but had no success (in contrast to those who didn't even try)? Knowing how many scored 0 says nothing about that. Unfortunately, Substack's poll format is very weak for digging into details.
Charles, I have absolutely no intention about starting an argument, quite the reverse to be honest. Analysis needs to be meaningful if it is to be of any value.
You kind of make my point with your second example of ‘how many tried but had no success’ - these people cannot answer your survey as it is set up currently.
I will not comment further on this as I have no intention of causing upset or offence.
I've learned a few things about sterotyping, and how well word of mouth spreads, and I also learned that anyone, no matter what their sexual preference, career, or how they act and dress or behave in the textile world could be the next die hard naturist. After a year my wife and I decide to share our nudism with our daughter, who is a wild child and a canvas for tats. I figured she would strip her clothes off right then and jump in the pool. But she said she was okay with us participating and even comes to visits every Sunday for a pool day while my wife and I swim naked, of course. She said it just wasn't her thing but maybe one day she will think about it . (More work to do there) And then I told a friend and work mate who actually wanted to try it but only if his partner would agree. I counted them out because his partner is all about numbers, a CPA who never wears anything but slacks and dress shirts even on his days off. Well to my surprise not only did his partner agree, he now is purchasing a place in a naturist resort in Texas, where they plan to move. They finally told their daughter who is attending College and she has always dressed very conservative compared to other teens . Come to find out her partner and live in was raised in a home only nudist family and no one ever knew. It just snowballed from there and to make this long story short, the whole family gets togethers on Holidays now and not a piece of clothing to be found on anyone. So when you think you have no chance of convincing someone, give it a try anyway. It never hurts to try. Two college age students, like my friends daughter is just the kind of younger members naturism needs right now. Convince one person and they will also spread the word about this wonderful naturism world.
I have no way of knowing how many people have become interested in naturists activities because of my website about nude hiking in the Yukon and Alaska, but one person contacted me a few weeks ago, curious about it. I took him on a 3-hour hike on a nearby mountain and he was blown away by the ability to do that. I expect we'll be out again.
To make this meaningful, you need to add “0 people” as an option.
Substack allows only 5 choices in polls. No doubt if 0 persons were a choice it would be by far the largest choice - dominating all the others.
